Announcing WaterFire Kansas City Friday and Saturday, October 10-11, 2014
WaterFire KC will once again ignite the night along Brush Creek on The Country Club Plaza in October. For the past seven years, this remarkable art installation and accompanying performances have enthralled tens of thousands of people from the metropolitan area and beyond who come together to celebrate the arts and artists of Kansas City. For 2014, WaterFire KC, produced for the WaterFire KC Committee by the not-for-profit Theater League, will expand to two nights plus daytime activities designed to meet Mayor James' KCMO Arts Convergence goal of creating a signature festival focused on the region's artists and cultural organizations.
The 2014 WaterFire KC Festival of the Arts kicks off Friday, October 10 with a salute to Kansas City jazz, blues and our community's many musical theater companies. The next night, Saturday, October 11, Kansas City performing artists will celebrate classic music from Brazil, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, China and Africa at the inaugural WaterFire Around the World Concert. On Saturday afternoon, our town's dance community will take over the WaterFire KC stage for an interactive program called WaterFire Extrava-Dance-A, followed by a music festival curated by the Folk Alliance.
WaterFire Kansas City has become one of the most anticipated events in the community.
