WaterFire Kansas City

Thank you to the Sponsors and Volunteers who made WaterFire Kansas City 2011 a memorable evening.
  Onward to October 27, 2012
WaterFire on Brush Creek is free to all, provides an opportunity for people from the entire metro area and beyond to celebrate community and revitalizes a public space through art.  WaterFire is a unique public art installation that uses the powerful combination of water, fire and music to build community and bring people together. As the tens of thousands of residents and visitors who witnessed the events since 2007 can attest, WaterFire delivers this and more.

Barnaby Evans, the internationally recognized artist who created WaterFire, manifests his interest in the revitalization of public space through his art. The living fire sculpture features 55 floating bonfires on Brush Creek. Barnaby's installation becomes the catalyst for showcasing local artists from the UMKC Conservatory of Music, Quixotic Fusion, Vesuvius Fire Dancers, Opera singers, Irish vocalists, Blues and Jazz performers - giving creative platform unlike any other.

Throughout the evening, boats return to the braziers, constantly feeding them with new wood and keeping the sculpture in its original form. This powerful visual is reinforced by the fragrant scent of aromatic wood smoke, the flickering firelight on the anchored bridges, the silhouettes of the fire-tenders passing by the flames, the torch-lit vessels traveling down the creek, accompanied by enchanting music and dance. The result is a truly memorable feast for the senses. Please help us sustain this wonderful FREE event by donating to WaterFire on http://waterfirekc-autohome.eventbrite.com/
